Hedgehog and Snail Cookies

Hedgehog and Snail cookies wrapped and ready to share.

These hedgehog and snail sugar cookies exude cuteness and they are basic designs that would be perfect for beginning cookie decorators.

For the hedgehog, I used flood consistency pink and brown icing for the body and a touch of black for the eye. If you wanted to make it even easier, you could use a small chocolate chip or piece of candy for the eye and skip mixing up the black icing.

The snail was made with white, yellow and pink flood consistency icing. As soon the white icing was added to color the shell part of the snail, I piped on a swirl of yellow to add detail. In hindsight I think I would prefer to use a darker color for the swirl like hot pink or orange so that it would stand out more. Oh well....next time.
