Fine Dining

The food we served today: Roasted pork loin with gravy over rice, baked apples, zucchini gratin and a slice of roasted tomato.

We were much busier than expected at The Wednesday Community Meal today and I'm pretty posititive it had a lot to do with the beautiful plates of food that were leaving the kitchen.

I've been told that it doesn't take long after our doors open at 11 a.m. for word to spread on the street as to what we are serving and if it's something popular, we'll have a sudden surge of guests.

Today we served gorgeous slices of roasted pork loin and although we had only 20 people in line at the start of the meal, within 15 minutes our dining room was packed with more people waiting to get inside.

"I feel like I'm eating in a fine restaurant," one man told me as I walked past his table.

It was such a sweet compliment and is exactly how we want our guests to feel.

Really, with the live piano music in the background, courtesy of volunteer Sandy Norcross, the atmosphere in the dining room couldn't have been better.

It feels wonderful to be able to treat such nice and deserving people.

We served 279 meals today.
